Paris Lullaby continues the spirit of Paris-Piaf - its extreme concentration, its rapturing blend of lyricism, swing and poetry
This project combines the finest milestones of French chanson from the 50s and 60s - Milord, Les Feuilles mortes, La Vie en rose, La Javanaise... - with the reinterpretation of some of the greatest American jazz masters whose life and work, for various reasons, have remained indissolubly linked to Paris.
The melodies of Piaf and Gainsbourg mingle with those of George Gershwin, Vernon Duke, Miles Davis and Chet Baker, creating a tender fresco, a shimmering tribute to the City of Lights, where the thousand windows of New York, at dusk, seem to be reflected in the waters of the Seine.
